Kids Invent! Tinker Challange 1 - Catapults

The Challenge:
Build a rubber band powered catapult that can launch a ping pong ball. The rubber bands have to be standard sizes that you purchase at an office supply type store. The ping pong ball has to be regulation size.

Contest Dates:
October 1 – October 16, 2011

To enter the Tinkering Event:
Send us an email (Tinkering@kidsinvent.com) between October 1 and October 16 with an attached JPG photo (no larger than 1 meg) of your invention. In the email include the following information:

  • The name(s) of the builders and their ages
  • The name and email address of an adult contact (this can be your parents or a teacher)
  • The distance of your farthest launch (in meters please) – yes, we trust you to be honest
  • A listing of the materials you used
  • The cost of any materials you purchased
  • A few sentences about your experience building and testing your catapult and anything you learned in the process

And, now the exciting conclusion!
We will review every entry and evaluate them according to the protocol below. The best one or best several will be shown in our monthly newsletter and on our Facebook page. And, the selected entries will get a copy of one of Ed’s books – autographed by our guru himself.
